Systemic Coaching Mindset
My coaching work is grounded in a systemic coaching mindset. This mindset forms the foundation of how I communicate, interact, and work with clients. It guides my questions, interventions, and professional conduct, and ensures a respectful, resource-oriented, and solution-focused coaching process.
Systemic coaching is based on the belief that sustainable change emerges through understanding context, relationships, and individual meaning-making rather than through advice or predefined solutions.
Core Principles of My Coaching Approach
-
Clients hold the resources they need for changeI work from the assumption that every client already possesses the inner resources, strengths, and capabilities required to achieve meaningful change. Coaching supports access to and activation of these resources.
-
The client is the expert for their own life and solutionsClients are experts in their own experiences, values, and decisions. I do not provide advice or solutions; instead, I facilitate clarity and insight so clients can develop solutions that are right for them.
-
Every behavior has value in its contextAll behavior serves a purpose within a specific context. By separating behavior, intention, and context, coaching enables new perspectives and expanded choices without judgment.
-
People always choose the best available option at the timeAt any given moment, individuals act according to the options they perceive as available. When new perspectives or choices become accessible, behavior can change naturally.
-
Every behavior is driven by a positive intentionBehind every action lies an intention aimed at meeting a need or protecting the system. Recognizing this intention allows for constructive change without pathologizing behavior.
-
Resistance is meaningful feedbackWhat may appear as resistance is understood as valuable feedback about boundaries, needs, or readiness. It indicates that the coaching approach must adapt to better support the client.
-
Learning and development are possible for everyoneIf something can be learned by one person, it can be learned by others. Growth becomes possible when learning steps are made accessible and manageable.
-
Mind and body influence each otherCognitive, emotional, and physical experiences are interconnected. Coaching may include reflection on bodily signals and embodied awareness as part of the change process.
-
There is no failure, only feedbackEvery outcome is considered feedback within an ongoing process. Coaching focuses on learning and adjustment rather than success or failure.
-
Meaning is defined by the receiverThe meaning of any message is determined by how it is received, not by the intention of the sender. Coaching therefore emphasizes clarity, reflection, and mutual understanding.
